Proof of Identity & Registration Entitlement

The documents we're legally required to verify before manufacturing your road legal number plates.

As a DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier (RNPS), Plate Studio is legally required to verify both your identity and your entitlement to display a registration number before manufacturing road legal number plates. This is a legal requirement under The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001.

We cannot manufacture or dispatch your order until your documents have been received and successfully verified.

1. Accepted Proof of Identity

Please provide one of the following:

UK Driving Licence (photocard or paper licence)
Passport
Utility Bill (issued within the last 6 months)
Bank or Building Society Statement (issued within the last 6 months)
National Identity Card (where applicable)

2. Accepted Proof of Registration Entitlement

Please provide one of the following:

V5C Vehicle Registration Certificate (Log Book)
New Keeper Supplement (V5C/2)
V750 Certificate of Entitlement
V778 Retention Document
V11 Vehicle Tax Reminder
Number Plate Authorisation Certificate (V948 or eV948)
Certificate of Authorisation from the DVLA
Letter of Authorisation from a Fleet Operator
Vehicle Hire or Lease Agreement confirming your entitlement to display the registration number

3. Uploading Your Documents

Once you have placed your order, you can securely upload your proof of identity and registration entitlement through your customer account against the relevant order.

Your documents are:

Encrypted and stored securely
Used solely to comply with legal requirements
Accessible only by authorised Plate Studio personnel
Retained for a minimum of 3 years in accordance with UK regulations for registered number plate suppliers
